Alien Abductions FAQ .50
"Don't give me another one of your rational explanations - I know
what I experience, and I'm not crazy" - TKK
A fairly recent phenomenon in the field of UFOlogy, alien
abductions are when a person is kidnapped or taken against
their will by the beings from, to someplace not on Earth, and
generally have something unusual done to them. While that
explanation may seem very vague, so is the phenomenon.
There are several different types of abductions. Sometimes,
UFOs will fly by, stop, and grab a person for a few hours,
and then return them, or , witnesses will stumble onto a
UFO, and be taken aboard against their will. In the type,
there is no premeditiation, it seems, just a chance encounter.
In other cases, the beings apparently repeatedly abduct a
person (see the Have you been Abducted by Aliens list in
the forum for signs of this) over a lifetime. These people are
called Abductees, or Experiencers. People who
communicate with aliens freely , are called contactees.
Q. What was the first case of someone being abducted?
A. The first case of someone beings taken aboard a UFO
against their will, seems to have been
that of Antonio Villas-Boas. In 1957, beings from a UFO
dragged him from his tractor on his farm in brazil, and took
him aboard a UFO. He was undressed, and a blood sample
was taken from him. Later, much to his dismay, a female
alien forced herself on him. After she made love to him
twice, he was returned to his farm. While this story may
seem wild, he did show signs of having had something done
to him, including a scar where the blood sample was taken,
and slight radiation burns.
The most popular case, though, was that of Betty and
Barney Hill, which occured in 1961. Betty and Barney Hill
had been driving home on a derserted highway, and they
saw a UFO approach closly. They stopped their car, and
got out to look at it. Getting scared, they got back into the
car, and drove off. While driving off, they started getting
drowsy. A couple weeks after the sighting, Betty started
having dreams about UFOs and Aliens. To stop this, they
visited a psychologist. Upon being hypnotized, Betty
remembered being taken aboard the UFO and examined.
Barney produced a somewhat similar tale, yet different in
several points. Their psychologist came to the conclusion
that they were remembering the dream, but Betty and
Barney disagreed, saying they were remembering what
really happened on that night. Most skeptics of the time
claimed that the dream was inspired by Betty's reading of
UFO literature, and by a popular movie.
One interesting note - during the hypnotic regression, Betty
recalled being shown a star map by beings, and they pointed
to the star they were from. She duplicated this during
hypnosis. The map was later identified by a amatuer
astronomer and housewife as being of the Zeta Reticula
area, and that was the home system of the aliens. Upon later
analysis, this was disputed by professional astronomers
using 3-d computer models and analysis of any randomly
produced dot patterns. (It's complicated).
Q. Okay, who was the first widely known abductee?
A. That belongs to Betty Andreasson, a housewife in
Massachusetts. Her story began in 1967, when aliens
apparently entered her house through the walls. Under
hypnotic regression, she told a remarkable story, about
meeting a being named Quazagaa , about being examinded
medically in a UFO, among other, wilder, things. Her story
was populared in the book, The Andreasson Affair in 1977
by Raymond Fowler, and I believe was continued in The
Watchers in the 80s, and The Watchers II, published just
recently.
Q. What is missing time?
A. Missing time is when someone seens a UFO, or an
anomalous event, and cannot account for several hours after
that. For example, say I see a UFO and I look at my watch
at it says 7:00 pm. Then, I next look at my watch 5 minutes
later, only to discover it's 11:30 pm. Somehow, I missed 4
1/2 hours.
This first happened apparently in the Betty and Barney Hill
case. However, Budd Hopkins later popularized it in his
book, Missing Time.
Q. Is there any proof that alien abductions are taking place?
A. Well, outside of hypnotic recall, and some concious
memories of abductees, not a whole lot. There have been
some implants removed, but tests on them have been
inconclusive. Ultimately, belief depends on whether or not
you believe the witnesses are truthful and sane, just like any
other aspect of UFOlogy or the paranormal.
